Have you ever wondered how fat digestion works?

Mario Brake: Team Leader Feed Additives - MIAVIT GmbH

The actual digestion of fat begins in the small intestine with the secretion of bile, which contains bile salts. These then carry out the primary emulsification of the fats, whereby larger fat droplets are broken down into smaller fat droplets. This process increases the surface area of the fat and at the same time prepares their secondary emulsification and enzymatic cleavage.

Lipase is then released from the pancreas into the small intestine and breaks down the triglycerides in the small fat droplets into monoglycerides and free fatty acids. Only then the monoglycerides and free fatty acids together with the bile salts are forming so-called micelles, which are water-soluble and transport the fat components to the intestinal wall. After absorption of the fat components into the intestinal cells, triglycerides are then resynthesized and finally enter the bloodstream via the lymphatic transport system.
Our experience and current research have shown that we can support both the primary and secondary emulsification of fats through animal nutrition, and we have developed MiaEmax for this purpose.
Basically, there are two strategies to use the product: With MiaEmax you can actively decrease your feed costs by energy-savings or deliver more energy in your high-quality feeding concepts.
As a supplementary feed, MiaEmax supports fat digestion by combining the most innovative emulsifiers and thus increases the energy availability of our livestock animals. Not only lysolecithins emulsify the feed, but also an ideal ratio of synthetic emulsifiers maximizes the energy load from the feed.
